Time again to Sketchup to Google

Will the wonders never cease? Not only is it a free 3d modeling application designed to be as easy as MS Paint, it's also integrated into Google Earth, so you can build a 3d warehouse of, well, wares and share it with, well, customers... anyway this is evidently the 6th version, but I know I'm not the only one who hasn't heard of it. Right?

Bush can veto Stark's @$$ too!

Oh Pete Stark, you old devil you, I didn't know you had it in you! Outstanding, saying the things that are only uttered in countless documentaries and a majority of homes across the country... it seems those horns hold up a shining halo. God (life force, etc.) bless you:

Snarky activists shoot themselves in the bleeding heart

Don't get me wrong. I believe that the underrepresented little guy needs to speak very loudly when making waves at the opposition. The powers-that-be have a much larger budget, and so the soldiers of communication for the activist must be highly skilled and persuasive.

Here's the problem: when a powerful entity (read evil corporation) disseminates a message, it is a psychological assassin. An expertly trained machine of mass appeal. There are rules and best practices for potent communication assassins that the activist circle needs to spy on and appropriate.

1. Take an unbiased tone... if the viewer thinks that you have irrational disrespect and jealous anger they will debunk the message as emotional baggage.

2. Evoke positive outcomes... even if they are fantasy or futurama. You can see this all up an down the branding of large multi-national companies. They have a reason for this. It is a double edged sword for gaining social compliance, like saying both "I care about your future" and "I care about the world"

3. Be simple... the media messages that stand out are singular thoughts, momentous expressions, and one grand benefit. The effect is pseudo-epiphany, and it makes us feel good.

That said, take a look at this (below) and see how this ad-soldier does.

Advertising should be art: Take 1

So, there was this great Apple ad called "1984" don't know if you've heard of it. Anyway, it made a lot of waves and sold a lot of computers. Below you will find how advertising science takes this little objet d'art and strips it of all nuance, potency, tonality, emotion, and story... because the common perosn obviously knows what good advertising is:

Takeaway: don't do focus groups, the demand characterisitcs of the participants convinces them that they are smart when, in fact, they are not.

Bush can veto my @$$ !!!

Bush's latest veto is a disgrace. He knows this too, because he did it in private. All alone. In a dark room. Hunched over. Eyebrows in a perfect peak. With a red pen. Blood red.

As reasons for denying an additional 4 million children with health care assistance, Bush states "Poor kids first" and "I believe in private medicine, not the federal government running the health care system"...

What an a-hole. Do you know any rich kids who need health care? Yeah. me either. Private medicine (read PRIVATE MEDICINE?) is not a belief system, first off. The gov't isn't "running" health care, only the giant corporations that pay Bush for vetoing bills like this. (Is that hyperbole or a parabola?) So, the idea that the private health care system might need some SOCIAL ASSISTANCE (read "neo-con cryptonite") is way too socialist and doesn't rely heavily enough on pirating... I mean feudalism.. I mean capitalism. Sorry. Until capitalists realize that generosity of spirit and laughter of children is the most appealing gross margin, we are stuck in fascism.. i mean capitalism. Sorry again.

Keep the faith. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will know peace." - Jimi Hendrix

Here's Bush explaining why he hates kids:

Electric Motorcycle: 400 horsepower, 600 pounds, 1 dufus

The state of the art KillaCycle lives up to it's name. It does 0-60 mph in .97 seconds. 0 - "oh sh&%" even faster. Ridiculous. BTW it cost about $40,000 to make... not bad R&D really. I can't wait for the future. BTW where's my jetpack already?

omgomgomgomgomgomg... salt water fuel

I think this is for real. I only hope it doesn't get bought and stored in a secret lock-box to be lost to obscurity. It is the job of bloggers and countrymen to make it not so.

Diesel Motorcycle... Deux!

This one breaks land speed records (130 mph plus). And it was made RIGHT next to me in Oakland, CA. I feel like I missed the opportunity to be involved in my own life because I didn't know about it til now... You ever feel that way?

Hit up The Crucible. They are a rad organization that I know I will be getting down with. Welding, fab, glass, jewelry, FIRE-BLOWING... for reals.

Something I've been obsessed with lately: Diesel Motorcycles

There has always been a "steampunk" tradition for this type of thing - homebrewed and SLOW AS H-E-double-hockey-sticks. But now there are some real industrial types getting them off the ground building awesome TORQUE-MONSTERS:

Thunder Star 1200 Diesel by Star Twin

Uses a Euro 3 cylinder VW TDI engine, JAMS with CAD-developed cases and transmission to make the fastest EVER. Sweet. Can you say BIODIESEL motorcycle with 100 mpg and 120 mph top speed? RAD.

Couple other DIESEL bikes that rock:

Neander Turbo 1400

HDT Bulldog

Let the Games begin!
